“Bjørn Eidsvåg interpretations.”

These paintings were exhibited at www.Guldenkunstverk.no in 2013. The works are inspired by the lyrics of Bjørn Eidsvåg.

The exhibition explores life’s painful contrasts. Eidsvåg’s music has inspired me for a long time because of his ability for honest reflection. He manages to articulate fears—be it fear of death or weakness—as well as joy and love. Eidsvåg bares himself, exposing his thoughts and dressing his words in music that amplifies their meaning. He is relentlessly self-revealing about betrayal by those closest to him, loss of faith and idols, children’s loyalty to their parents, and above all, he celebrates women.

With Eidsvåg’s permission, I have created a series of paintings freely interpreted from his lyrics. The centerpiece is inspired by the song “Ordet fanger” (“The Word Traps”)—misunderstood words that lead to verbal abuse and exclusion. The experience is more powerful if you listen to the lyrics that inspired the works. The series consists of eight paintings in total.
